Types of aluminium ute canopies

Locking cage canopy with tray sides on: Each door has 2 gas struts and 2 stainless steel locks that secure the canopy door over the existing tray sides. This style is usually chosen by our customers who have a fancy tray like a Norweld who for obvious reasons don’t want to remove the tray sides. The front of the canopy is mounted to the tray on corner posts and with 2 mesh panels at the rear to increase the mounting footprint. There’s also 2 tabs to the ute’s headboard to prevent movement between the canopy and the tray.
Locking cage canopy with tray sides off: This style of canopy has full length doors with 3mm marine grade plate at the bottom of each door and along the mesh panels at the rear. These plate sections replace the tray sides and prevent any items in the tray from sticking into the cover. Each door has 2 gas struts and the option for 2 stainless steel locks per door or a single central chrome whale tail lock for an additional cost. There’s also the added option of central locking.

Most customers choose a 3 door cage but we can also make a 2 door canopy with fixed mesh rear. Additional doors can be added to access a fridge, or a pet. Removable dividers help to section off the storage and provide more tie down points.

Canopies with tray sides off are the most user-friendly design as there’s no double-handling of canopy doors and tray sides. The cost is the same whether the tray sides are removed or retained.
