I have been looking for a decent roof rack for my Nissan Navara 4wd dual cab for about 6 months. I have taken numerous photos of other trucks I spotted while riding a bike around Perth city. I have asked for quotes from private companies and looked at all possible options.
There are some pretty cheap and nasty options out there. Some having rubber inserted in between aluminium to make objects slide easily. I have a large plastic twin canoe or sit on top used in white water rapids. I know that in the long term rubber eventually breaks down in the sun. So I left that option behind.
I found Great Racks on the internet and thought I should drive to Henderson and meet the owner Mark Nash and see his workshop as I liked the photos he supplied of work completed on other 4wd utes. He had all aluminium piping on his roof racks and made to a customer’s preferences rather than just fit out something made in China as seen from other companies.
I wanted a rack that would go the length of the vehicle as my canoe is long and bulky. Mark says the rack could easily handle the canoe weight and more if I needed to. All piping was welded on site and he made a rear frame that bolted into my tub. I think the rack design is fantastic and Mark was happy to drop me off and pick me up at Cockburn rail station as I had to leave the vehicle at his workshop for a day.
